Manchester City Reach Champions League Final After Demolishing Real Madrid 4-0
Double from Bernardo Silva Powers City to Victory
Manchester City have booked their place in the Champions League final after a comprehensive 4-0 victory over Real Madrid in the second leg of their semi-final. The win secured a 5-1 aggregate victory for the English champions, who were simply too strong for the Spanish giants at the Etihad Stadium.
Silva Stars for City
Bernardo Silva was the star of the show for City, netting twice to put the game beyond Real's reach. The Portuguese midfielder opened the scoring in the 37th minute, with a superb finish from the edge of the area. He then added a second in the 57th minute, tapping in after Real goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois made a mess of clearing a cross.
City Take Control
City dominated the game from the outset, with Real struggling to create any clear-cut chances. The Spanish side's hopes of a comeback were dealt a major blow when Eder Militao was sent off in the 62nd minute for a second bookable offense.
Madrid Muzzled
With Real down to 10 men, City took full advantage, with Mahrez scoring twice in the final 15 minutes to put the icing on the cake. The Algerian winger's first goal came from a penalty, after he was fouled by Dani Carvajal, before he added a second in the 89th minute with a clinical finish from close range.
City to Face Chelsea in Final
City will now face Chelsea in the final of the Champions League, which will be held at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul on May 29. It will be a rematch of last season's final, which Chelsea won 1-0 thanks to a goal from Kai Havertz.
