Borussia Dortmund Claim Fifth DFB Pokal Title with 4-1 Victory over RB Leipzig
Haaland and Sancho Shine in Berlin
Borussia Dortmund have secured their fifth DFB Pokal title after a dominant 4-1 victory over RB Leipzig in Berlin on Thursday. Star strikers Erling Haaland and Jadon Sancho led the charge for Dortmund, each contributing a brace to the win.
First-Half Dominance
Dortmund seized the initiative from the opening whistle, dominating possession and creating numerous scoring chances. Haaland opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a clinical finish, followed by Sancho's stunning goal just three minutes later. Haaland added his second in the 45th minute, putting Dortmund firmly in control at halftime.
Leipzig Fightback
RB Leipzig emerged from the break with renewed determination, and Christopher Nkunku pulled a goal back for the Leipzig in the 57th minute. However, Dortmund remained unfazed and Sancho restored their three-goal advantage in the 67th minute, securing the victory for Lucien Favre's side.
The win marks Borussia Dortmund's first major trophy since their 2017 DFB Pokal triumph. It is also a significant achievement for Haaland, who has now scored 41 goals in all competitions this season.
