Arizona Diamondbacks outfielder Daulton Varsho is sitting out against left-handed pitcher Martin Perez of the Texas Rangers on Sunday. Alek Thomas will start in center field and bat leadoff in his place.

Varsho has struggled against left-handed pitchers this season, batting .214 with a .286 on-base percentage and a .357 slugging percentage in 84 at-bats. He is coming off a 2-for-5 performance on Saturday, but both of his hits came against right-handed pitchers.

With Varsho out of the lineup, Thomas will get a chance to show what he can do against a left-handed pitcher. The 22-year-old is batting .278 with a .337 on-base percentage and a .478 slugging percentage in 218 at-bats this season.

Milwaukee Brewers catcher Spencer Horwitz is also sitting out against a left-handed pitcher on Sunday. Pedro Severino will start behind the plate in his place.

Horwitz has struggled against left-handed pitchers this season, batting .182 with a .250 on-base percentage and a .364 slugging percentage in 44 at-bats. He is coming off an 0-for-3 performance on Saturday against the Chicago Cubs.

With Horwitz out of the lineup, Severino will get a chance to show what he can do. The 28-year-old is batting .276 with a .351 on-base percentage and a .451 slugging percentage in 163 at-bats this season.
