Sinner defeats Hanfmann in straight sets
Top seed Jannik Sinner has advanced to the second round of Wimbledon after defeating Yannick Hanfmann in four sets on Monday.
Sinner, the world number one, won 6-3 6-4 3-6 6-3 in just under three hours on No 1 Court to set up a match against 2021 Wimbledon finalist and No 59 seed Matteo Berrettini.
It was not the perfect start for the top seed, but he eventually found his rhythm and was too strong for Hanfmann.
Sinner will now face Berrettini in an exciting second-round contest on Wednesday.
