Boeing 737 MAX 10: Largest and Newest Variant Cleared for Certification

FAA Gives Green Light for Test Flights

Nov. 24, 2023

The U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has authorized Boeing to begin certification test flights of its 737 MAX 10, the largest and newest variant of its MAX series.

The MAX 10 is designed with a capacity of up to 230 seats, surpassing the 200-seat capacity of its predecessors. It boasts a slightly shorter fuselage than the MAX 9, but offers improved environmental performance and operating costs.

Boeing has faced significant challenges in the wake of two fatal crashes involving the 737 MAX 8 in 2018 and 2019. The FAA's clearance for the MAX 10 is a major step towards restoring confidence in the aircraft and its manufacturer.

The MAX 10 is expected to play a significant role in Boeing's recovery. It offers airlines increased capacity and improved efficiency, providing them with a competitive edge in the aviation industry.

The test flights will focus on demonstrating the safety and reliability of the MAX 10. Once certification is complete, Boeing will begin deliveries of the aircraft to customers.
